ACT Travelwise Conference - 23d November; Newcastle- Gateshead is this year organising the exciting annual ACT Travelwise Conference in the Sage - this year focussing on travel planning and links to the environment. Be Air Aware is sponsoring this event through the Tyne and Wear Local Transport Plan, and will have attendance on the day. World Environment Day - 5th June; Visit Claremont Quad at Newcastle University campus to get information about the campaign and talk to the team.
Bike to Work Week: South Tyneside Council staff breakfast event - 17th June; Councils staff can visit Hebburn Civic Centre between 8.30am and 11am to find out more about South Tyneside Council's cycle to work scheme and the Be Air Aware campaign.
Bike Week 13th- 21st June ; Bike Week is the UK's largest mass participation cycling event and provides an annual opportunity to promote cycling as a source of fitness and fun, not to mention an alternative form of transport. This year, Bike Week 2009 is encouraging everyone to 'get more out of life'- by getting on your bikes, exploring your local community and finding out just how convenient cycling is for all those short trips we make each day. Enviro Schools Climate Change Event - 25th June; Visit Times Square outside Centre for Life between 10.00 and 15.00 to find out more about what activities are going on in schools across the region, and how you and your children can get involved. The 'Enviro Village' will offer informative talks, activities, interactive voting, a chance to meet the team, and give-aways.
Enviro Fair - 30th August; Visit South Tyneside centre to find out more about what activities are happening in the region to improve our air quality and environment - and how you can get involved.
European Mobility Week - 16th - 22nd September; The theme for this years European Mobility Week is 'Clean Air for All', so keep an eye out for activities happening all across Tyne and Wear! Be Air Aware is using this week to launch and arrange a range of exciting initiatives,from Get Cycling Activity days to web based curriculum resources for schools, so keep an eye out for us in your local news paper to find out what is happening near you.
Be Air Aware Week - October; We will be arranging a dedicated Be Air Aware week in October, to let everyone know what we have been up to. This will include comic podcasts and an exciting animation launching on our up-coming mini site - so make sure to visit our website again soon!
